About the Danknet Explorer

| Danknet Explorer Beta is an internet nostalgia project started in 2022 by Jett Secret. It is a browser clone of Palemoon making primarily UI changes, and some behavioural changes in an attempt to deliver the look and feel of Internet Explorer 6/7. As a Palemoon clone, it takes with it the ability to play flash in browser and is planned to enable ruffle in the future and comes with all of the perks of Palemoon. This also makes Danknet Explorer a firefox based browser not a chrome based one. It is also completely open source just as Firefox and Palemoon are. |

| The point of the Danknet Explorer is not strictly aesthetical. It is a browser that intends to dedicate itself to the indie web, prioritizing and bolstering those sites and communities over all else. There are a lot of features planned for future updates, and it would be excellent if some keen person wanted to mess around with the css files in the browser to make the UI look like other retro browsers. |

| For now the browser only supports Windows 10/11. There are plans to build it for Mac, Linux and older Windows versions. |

| Known bugs and Issues |
- Zoom buttons on hover do not appear like other buttons
- When the menubar is hidden, and the Palemoon style app button appears in the title bar, the tabs sometimes lose their top dark border. This appears to be a padding/margin related issue
- Customizing toolbars has gross disasterous consequences
- Some Icons are not configured properly.
- Home button on the second toolbar shows text and has bookmarks style hover. Also stretches icon and looks bad...
- Custom added toolbars appear with a gray background (and probably break things)
- Some addable icons are not mapped to buttons correctly
- No zoom percent text? Does palemoon really not have that or did I break something?
- Tabs on top breaks stuff. It is currently blocked because it is very ugly.
- Some drop menus are broken and are only the width of the little icon (like the history drop menus)
- Downloads button get all shrinky after clicking

| Future Plans and Additions |
- If possible MSN button should check if escargot (or nina) program is installed and if so install it. Currently just opens a link
- Mac and Linux builds
- Change the style on menubar items when hovering (ie6 is blue on hover and borders are not rounded)
- Top secret stuff!!!!

| Contributing |
This guy is in its infancy and a lot of work is going to need to be done, especially to get mac and linux builds completed. If you want to contribute, you can clone the Git repository and make a pull request. Or email thejettsecret@gmail.com if you want to be a part of the team. Ways that you can help are:
- Website development and maintenance
- Security features
- CSS and XML-style (XUL) UI changes.
- Javascript feature development
- C++ (XPCOM) feature development
- Legal stuff probably?
- Graphic design
- Many other ways!
